The International Choral Kathaumixw is a 5 day choral festival held in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada. Founded in 1984, the festival takes place every two years more than 1,200 singers gathering from around the world.

The University of Newcastle Chamber Choir, Echology, attended the XVIII International Choral Kathaumixw, and won Won 1st place in Adult Equal Voice Choir and 2nd in Chamber Choir under Benjamin Lambert’s direction. After the competition, the festival included a week-long tour of Vancouver Island, where Benjamin led daily performances in local performance spaces and the Buchardt Gardens near Victoria. Benjamin’s original composition for SSAA choir, “Thunder”, was premiered on the world stage in the choir’s winning category.
